"The Rules"
Time Period:
■ Shooting List - published on
OCPA's website between 5 and 6 pm April 13, 2012.
■ Shooting - 6 pm April 13th
until 6:30 pm April 16th, 2012 ONLY.
■ Location - Limited to the
Sweet Creek area (of the Siuslaw National Forest).
■ File Turn-in - at OCPA meeting,
April 16th (or via email anytime earlier - electronic @ oregoncoastphotoclub . com - same guidelines as “Member’s Only”
competitions).
■ Judging - May 7th (first meeting in
May).
■ Awards - May 21st (second meeting in
May).
Technical Specifications:
■ File Format - JPEG (.jpg)
■ Longest Dimension - 768 pixels
■ File Size - 350kb maximum
■ File Name - Category Number Underscore
Category
Name/Title Underscore LastName FirstName (example:
01_CategoryName_PhotographerJoe.jpg). Note: no spaces,
capitol letters denote new word
■ Other - sRGB color space recommended
Camera Restrictions:
None*. You may use any type of
camera (digital or film - although images to be judges must be in a
digital format, see above)
and any special camera mode it may have in order
to get the still image you want (include but not limited to:
panorama, sepia, B&W, mono/grayscale, HDR, 3D, Video,
multi-exposure, etc.). Use of any camera filters or other equipment
is allowed.
* Exceptions: NO added text or
clipart in the image, images of found printed objects are OK.
Software Restrictions:
None*. You may use any, all or none of
your computer software to manipulate your images to get it to look
like what you want. However, remember that the image should reflect
the subject and maybe scored low if the judging audience does not
recognize it.
Note: the turned-in image files must be
photographically based on images you shot during the allotted time
frame.
*Exceptions: NO added text or clipart in the image,
images of found printed objects are OK. You may use only
minor adjustments to your image: i.e. contrast, cropping, color
adjustments and sharpening. Remember that the image should
reflect the subject and maybe scored low if the judging audience
does not recognize it. NO added text or
clipart in the image.
Who Can Participate:
Any/all members of OCPA in good standing. However, only
those members who have paid the $2.00 entry fee (fee covers
list/judging sheet printing and prize costs) at or before the File
Turn-in Date (April 16, 2012) are eligible to have their imaged
judged (May 7, 2012).

Tips:
Play with the word. Example: "chip" could be an image of wood,
potato, computer, cow or chocolate chips; the neighbor kid and his father (a
"chip off the old block); and/or a golf shot - just to mention a few ideas.
While creativity counts, remember the image must be recognized by the judges as
fitting the category. Also, just because a word is spelled one way does not mean
that is the way to use it, spelling doesn't count, pronunciation does. Example:
"red" could be the color or an old book "read".
